Dining Out in Citrus County

Everyone enjoys a meal out now and then.  The communities in Citrus County offer a great selection of restaurants to choose from no matter your taste or budget.  We’ve highlighted some of our favorite for you to consider.

 Bar B Que

  • On the East side of the county you can count on Sonny’s for great BarBque. It’s popular all over the Southeast and there’s a reason why. Great food at a reasonable price.
  • On the West Side, try Fat Boys BarBque.  An icon in Crystal River, this local favorite has great tasting sliced pork, beef and tasty ribs. The chicken is tender and flavorful too.  They make a great Brunswick stew too.
  • The Only BarBque In Hernando Is Sauced Hogs, Featuring massive servings of awesome Barbque.

 Bar & Grill

  • A popular spot in downtown Inverness is Coaches Pub & Eatery.  They serve some of the best wings around along with sandwiches and other finger foods.  You can “belly up to the bar” or enjoy your beverages at the table.  Great atmosphere and old town quaint location.
  • A new place in town that is getting great reviews is LollygaggersA clean, upscale atmosphere with good food and a wonderful bar selection. Located in Crystal River, try this next time you need to quench your thirst!
  • On the waterfront in Crystal River, Crackers Bar & Grill is a very popular spot.  You can watch the water while enjoying one of their great sandwiches or salads while dining inside or out on the deck.  The bar is “waterside” and is a very popular spot on the weekends.


  • In Crystal River the favorite is Mr. Kings. They have a delicious variety of prepared meals at lunch and dinner.  Reasonably priced and cooked perfectly! Of course they have take-out too!

 Fine Dining

  • If you’re looking for something special, Vintage on 5th  has a wonderful menu and one of the best chefs around. Located in a restored early Florida home, the ambience is pleasant and the food is delicious. Take your guest to this one, you’ll all have a great meal!
  • McLeod House Bistro in Inverness on North Apopka has earned a reputation for delivering an exceptional dining experience with classically prepared foods, fine wines and live entertainment on weekends. Wonderful setting and an elegant meal.
  • The Katch Twenty-Two is located in Lecanto off of Hwy 44. Its a quaint little restaurant with elegant food and an old country atmosphere.


  • A very popular lunch and dinner spot for Mexican is El Ranchito. They have a branch in Inverness and Crystal River.  It comes with unlimited chips and great salsa! Reasonably priced and ample servings!
  • In Inverness there is a chain Mexican restaurant named Habanero's. They serve massive margarita and humongous Burritos, and of course all your other favorite Mexican dishes.


  • A charming little place in Crystal River is La Casa Di Norma.  Served on linens and china, their dishes are full of flavor. A  nice variety of all your favorite Italian dishes priced reasonably.
  • An established eatery in Inverness is Angelotti's New York style pizzas and wonderful Italian dishes too. Don't miss out on their fried broccoli bites!!
  • In Inverness there’s a very nice place called Little Italy.  They serve huge salads and other dishes. Also have a deli for those sandwich cravings.
  • In Downtown Inverness there is a little spot called Motor City Pasta. Great Italian dishes and great atmosphere.


  • Fairly new to Crystal River but getting great reviews is Natalia’s Pizza and Pasta.  They have a wonderful selection of Italian dishes served buffet style along all of your favorite pizzas and pastas.  Very reasonably priced and really tasty meals!
  • Moschello’s in Homosassa has a great little Italian menu with Pizza, pastas and sandwiches.  Very reasonable prices and great hearty serving sizes. Casual dress is fine.
  •  Angelo's Pizzeria​ in Inverness and Hernando is a hot spot for a pie.  Fresh and delicious, they serve all the favorites and few specialties too!


  •  It’s hard to beat Brooklyn Deli for a great sandwich or sub.  They don’t skimp on the meat and they’re always consistently great.  They’ve good variety too and we haven’t had a bad one yet. Locations in Inverness and Crystal River.
  • Probably one of the best sandwiches served in town is served at Joe's Deli in Crystal River. That’s a about all they serve and they do it well!  Limited seating so plan for take-out!


  • Specializing in local seafood, Charlie’s Fish House is in Crystal River right on the water.  They have a nice selection of all the most popular items like stone crab claws, grouper and oysters.  The prices area reasonable and they are located in a spacious nautical setting.
  • If you want seafood without the frills, check out Dan’s Clam Stand in Crystal River and Homosassa.  They serve a nice selection at very reasonable prices.  You’ll get a hearty lunch or dinner without breaking the bank along with fast, friendly service.
  • A nice place for seafood in Inverness is StumpknockersIt has a rustic motif and is located in the square downtown.  Great food and reasonable prices.
  • If your looking for the best shrimp in town look no further than The Freezer. Its an old seafood freezer made into a restaurant.
  • The Crab Plant in Crystal River specializes in Shellfish and is good at it, but of course they have tons of other great grub too.

 Southern Style

  • On the north end of the county near Dunnellon is The Front Porch. A very popular spot for the locals, they have a wonderful menu of all your Southern favorites. Leave room for desert, they have the best pies around!
  • Oyster’s Restaurant on Highway 19 in Crystal River has one of the best local chefs around. From their famous fried chicken to their many other southern reciepes, this restaurant offers casual dining at reasonable prices.
  • A popular spot in Crystal River for those who aren’t watching their cholesterol is Grannies Country Kitchen.  Very reasonable priced with a great menu of all of your fried favorites. Popular for breakfast and lunch!  


  • The hot spot in Crystal River is Cody’s Road House Grill.  It’s nostalgic décor offers a nice backdrop to a great menu of Steaks and Chicken. The steaks are cooked right and are full of flavor. Nice portions and everything comes with rolls and salad. They have a full bar too.
  • Inverness has an Outback Restaurant that seems to be the favorite spot for Steaks.  Like the other franchises, they have a nice variety on their menu and work hard to always serve quality. 


  • The Cove in Inverness is well known for their perfectly cooked wings. They also have great burgers and other comfort food.
  • Sportsters in Crystal River is known for good wings too. You can watch a game, enjoy a beer and dine on wings or sandwiches there.
  • ​Fat Daddy's Road House Bar and Grill in Homosassa has some of the best wings in town and on Wednesday night its all you can eat!!! Full bellies and good times.

 National Chains

  • If you’re looking for something very familiar, we do have several well know franchise restaurants in the area in addition those mentioned above.  In Inverness there is an Olive Garden, Golden Corral, Ruby Tuesdays, Pizza Hut and an Applebees.  In Crystal River we have a Chili’s, Applebees, Pizza Hut, Denny’s and an Ale House. Of course we have the normal array of fast food restaurants disbursed around Citrus County.
