About Citrus County

Located on the "Nature Coast" of Florida about an hour north of Tampa, Citrus County is best known for it's lakes and rivers.  This gulf side community offers a haven for the outdoor enthusiast whether they enjoy time on the water, on the golf course, on the bike trails or just walking in the Florida Sun. Crystal River and Inverness are its 2 major cities but Homosassa, Beverly Hills, Hernando and Lecanto are well populated towns in the community too.

Tourist flock here to dive in our rivers and fish in both our salt or fresh water resources.  Many choose to stay because of the beautiful environment we have to offer.  We've grown from a sleepy little fishing village in early 1900's to a community of about 130,000 today.

We have 2 major hospitals here, Seven Rivers and Citrus Memorial.  There are also numerous physicians with specialized practices located here to serve the needs of our community.  Medicine is big business in our area.  Progress Energy is another big business locally with their power plant located on our Northern Border.

We have a wide range of real estate here. From the affordable "second home" to something very upscale on the water.  With our average price of about $110,000, it's amazing what someone can buy for under $200,000 in Citrus County.  Unlike the more developed regions, we have lots of vacant land and large tracts available. So, if you want something with a little space around you for horses or privacy, we have plenty to offer. Of course waterfront is very popular here. With 7 rivers and numerous lakes, not to mention direct access to the Gulf of Mexico, we can accommodate most every boating enthusiast.  You'll find over a dozen golf courses in our area too. Finding a home or property on a course is easy or, you can commute just a short distance to your choice of courses. No wonder Citrus County is so popular, we have something for everyone!
